Ravindra Randeniya's Biography:

Liyanage Boniface Walter Perera, widely known by his stage name Ravindra Randeniya, is a renowned Sri Lankan actor and former politician. Born on June 5, 1945, in Dalugama, Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, he gained prominence in the film industry with his role in Lester James Peries's film Desa Nisa in 1972. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Randeniya was a popular actor, earning recognition and acclaim for his performances. He received the Sarasaviya Best Actor Award in 1984 for Dadayama, followed by wins in 1985 for Maya, 1989 for Sandakada Pahana, and 1990 for Sri Medura.

In addition to his acting career, Randeniya hosted the quiz program Mind Star on ITN, which garnered significant attention and publicity.

In his personal life, Randeniya was born as the second child in a family of six siblings. His father, L.P. Perera, was a well-known businessman in the brass hinge industry in Dalugama, Kelaniya. His mother, Caroline Egodawatte, hailed from Sapugaskanda. Randeniya has an elder brother named Callistus, two younger sisters named Gertie and Helen, and two younger brothers named Amal and Shantha. He attended St. Benedict College in Kotahena, where he developed a close friendship with his classmate Vijaya Kumaratunga. Although he was a good student, Randeniya did not pass his A-level examination and did not pursue higher education. Instead, he joined his family's hardware manufacturing business.

Growing up in the scenic village of Dalugama, surrounded by paddy fields and streams, Randeniya developed a deep appreciation for nature. He spent many evenings gazing over the fields and immersed himself in the works of esteemed Sinhala authors such as Martin Wickremasinghe, Prof. Ediriweera Sarachchandra, Kumaratunga Munidasa, and Wimalaratne Kumaragama through his avid reading habits.

Randeniya is married to fellow actress Preethi Pramila Seneviratne. Their wedding ceremony took place on October 31, 1974. They have two sons named Sachindra Nirmal and Sameera Manabarana, as well as a daughter named Umayangana Indrachapa. Preethi Randeniya is a poet and author of children's books.

Randeniya's artistic journey began with his involvement in school plays, including his role as 'Kashyapa' in the play Sigiriya Kashyapa. He demonstrated his talent for writing by winning the first prize in a short story competition organized by the College Literary Society in 1962. Randeniya and Kumaratunga were introduced to art and literature by Wilfred Perera, a prominent school teacher and leftist figure who was the brother of dramatist Anthony C. Perera.

During his free time, Randeniya pursued courses in theater decor and screenwriting at the Lionel Wendt Theatre Workshop. It was during a general acting class under Jagoda that he developed a fascination with acting, leading him to join the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery in 1969 to learn drama, screenplay writing, direction, and stage decoration. At the age of 25, Randeniya obtained his first leading role in the student production Mudu Puththu, directed by Gallapaththi. It was veteran photographer Ralex Ranasinghe who gave him the stage name "Ravindra Randeniya."

His performance in the film attracted the attention of acclaimed director Lester James Peries, who cast him in the film Kalu Diya Dahara. This film, released in 1974, dealt with the struggles between workers and administration on a tea plantation and was considered a watershed moment in Sinhala cinema. However, it was his breakthrough role in Desa Nisa, screened in 1972, that firmly established him as a popular actor. In this film, he starred alongside Joe Abeywickrema and Sriyani Amarasena. Randeniya's portrayal of 'Sampath Hamu,' a paralyzed man confined to a wheelchair after an accident, in the 1989 film Siri Medura showcased his remarkable acting skills. For this role, he received the Sarasaviya Award for Best Actor in 1990, making history as the first unanimous decision of the jury without any recommendation.

The most effective method of reaching out to a celebrity is usually through their representative's email. Celebrities often receive an overwhelming number of direct messages on social media, particularly from fans, making it easy for your message to get lost among them. Instagram, for instance, has a strong message filtering system, potentially hindering your messages from reaching the intended celebrity. Alternatively, you can attempt to capture the celebrity's attention on Instagram by sending a direct message, even though some celebrities might have disabled private messaging. Additionally, engaging with their posts and photos through comments might offer a chance for the celebrity to respond. Remember, it's always worth trying different approaches to increase the likelihood of getting noticed.
