Damitha Abeyratne, born on September 14, 1975, is a renowned Sri Lankan actress in both the film and teledrama industry.
Background:
She attended Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya in Nugegoda and St. Paul’s Girls School in Milagiriya.
Professional Journey:
In 1987, at the age of eight, she embarked on her acting career by making her debut in the teledrama "Passe Gena Manamali." Her inaugural film appearance was in "Meeharaka," directed by I. Hewawasam, in 1993. It wasn't until 2003, with her prominent role in Inoka Sathyangani's film "Sulang Kirilli," that she truly made her mark. This outstanding performance earned her accolades such as the Sarasaviya Best Actress Award, the SIGNIS Best Actress Award, and various international honors. Noteworthy awards were also bestowed upon her for her compelling portrayals in the television series "Dandubasnamanaya" and the film "Mee Haraka."
Damitha Abeyratne expanded her horizons by venturing into directing with the teledrama serial "Sasara Sarani," a project where she also assumes the role of producer.
