Duleeka Kumari Wijekoon Marapana, commonly known as Duleeka Marapana (Sinhala: දුලිකා මාරපන), was born on November 15, 1975. She is a versatile artist, gracing the Sri Lankan stage, television, and cinema with her talent. Duleeka is not only an actress but also a public speaker, director, producer, and philanthropist. Her most iconic role to date is "Dingiri Amma" in the Malee teledrama.
Aside from her acting career, Duleeka Marapana is the founder of 3rdbell Productions and Academy, the Chairperson of CO CO Productions, and the founder of Northwest Films.
Her journey into acting commenced in 1997 during her university years, where she took the stage in various compelling dramas. Notable among these are "Sapathnee" (for which she received the best actress award), "Swarnama" (best actress), "Katu Yahana" (nominated), "Sevanali Ha Minissu," "House of Bernarda Alba" (best supporting actress), "Katu Yahana," and "Upanda Maranaya."
In 2014, she starred in her own production, "Lawrencege Manamali," alongside her husband Sujeewa Priyal Yaddehige. Their wedding was uniquely celebrated during a stage drama performance on August 13 and 14, 2015. This play garnered immense popularity, with over 380 showings across the island.
Duleeka Marapana has been recognized with the Best Actress Award at the Sumathi Awards for her outstanding performances in "Depath Nai," "Himakatayam," "Rathriya," "Sudheera," "Isuru Bawana," "Ridee Ittankaraya," and "Me Wasantha Kalayai." Her most renowned role as "Dingiri Amma" was portrayed in the teledramas "Malee" and "Aththamma," earning her the People's Award on two occasions.
In 2019, she graced the popular "Sudu Anguru" and returned to the stage in "Lawrencege Manamali." More recently, she has appeared in serials such as "Internasanal 1" and "2" and "Pork Street."
Beyond her acting career, Duleeka Marapana is deeply engaged in environmental conservation and activism. She played a leading role in the environmental film "Suparna," directed by her husband. Her cinematic journey has also included critically acclaimed roles in films like "Sooriya Arana," "Kosthapal Punyasoma," "Samanala Thatu," "Walapatala," "Sinhaya," and "Daruwane."
