Gayathri Dias, also known as Wakunugoda Gayathri Irosha Dias, is a highly accomplished actress in both Sri Lankan cinema and television. Beyond her acting career, she has ventured into diverse fields, excelling as a beauty queen, presenter, beautician, and successful entrepreneur.
Personal Life
Gayathri Dias was born on April 16, 1975, in Matara, as the second child of Ranjith Henry Dias and Eujin Alahpperuma. She grew up alongside an elder brother and a younger sister. Her father, Ranjith, served at the Czechoslovakian Embassy until his retirement. For her education, Gayathri attended several schools, including Methodist College, Samudradevi, and Karunaratne Bauddhaloka Maha Vidyalaya. Unfortunately, her beloved mother, Eujin, passed away due to COVID-19 on June 13, 2021.
Gayathri is happily married to the popular actor and director, Channa Perera. They first crossed paths during the teledrama "Makara Vijithaya," and their love story led them to tie the knot on September 26, 1996. The couple is blessed with two daughters, Maleesha Parindya and Duasha Adithya. While the elder daughter, Maleesha, completed her education at Musaeus College, the younger one, Duasha, is currently studying at Royal Institute International School.
Acting Career
At the young age of 17, while preparing for her GCE A/L examinations, Gayathri secured a job as a receptionist at TNL TV. This opened doors to her maiden teledrama acting in the New Year teledrama, "Udaara Geethaya." She later delved into the world of cinema, making her cinematic debut in a supportive role in the 2001 film "Oba Magema Wewa," directed by V. Siwadasan. Gayathri's incredible talent and dedication led her to shine in popular films like "Suwanda Denuna Jeewithe," "Yamaraja Siri," and "Seya."

Gayathri Dias has displayed her beauty and grace on the pageant stage as well. In 1992, she participated in the Miss Sri Lanka Contest, where she won the prestigious title of 'Miss Photogenic.' In 1994, she emerged as the winner of the 'Sirasa Ru Rajina' beauty pageant conducted by Maharaja Capital.
Her talents extend beyond acting and pageantry. In the Hair Asia Pacific 2003 competition, Gayathri earned the most outstanding Sri Lankan performer's trophy and the first runner-up award for the Nail Art category.
On an international platform, Gayathri proudly represented Sri Lanka at the Mrs. Top of the World 2016 beauty pageant. Her modern Kandyan dance performance earned her the title of 'Mrs Talent,' and she secured the impressive fifth place in the pageant.
