Nethmi Nisheka Roshel Rogers, born on 6 November 1998 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is a well-known actress and model, popularly known as Nethmi Roshel. She made her first television appearance in the teledrama "Sakkaran" and gained public attention for her role as Aksha in "Deweni Inima." Her acting career took off, and she later appeared as Parami in the film "Adaraneeya Prarthana," which received positive reviews from critics.
During her early life, Nethmi attended Bomiriya Central College and later graduated from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. In 2019, she won first place in Jathika Rupavahini Awurudu Kumariya and earned the title "Miss Photogenic 2019."
While pursuing her higher education, Nethmi balances her work as an actress, model, and brand ambassador. Besides her work in television and film, she has modeled for various promotional photoshoots and served as a brand ambassador for Tecno Camon and Nescafé.
In television, she started as 'Jayawathi' in "Sakkaran" and rose to fame with her role as Aksha in "Deweni Inima." Nethmi has also played roles in other teledramas like "Hiru Awidin" and "Rawana" (season 2). Her upcoming project is the romance melodrama "Rosa," where she will play the character Gauri alongside Randika Gunatilake, set to air on TV Derana in May 2023.
In the film industry, her breakthrough came with the romance movie "Adaraneeya Prarthana," which received critical acclaim for its modern approach to romance. She also ventured into the genre of short film with "Cherry Blossom" directed by Jo Dissanayake and starred as Kata-malee in the Avurudu telefilm "Wasanthe." Nethmi portrayed the lead role of "Warsha" in the telefilm "Adara Wasanthe," released on New Year's Eve in 2023. Her next mainstream movie, "Kambili," had its muhurath ceremony on 28th March 2023.
Outside of her professional life, Nethmi is an avid pet lover and advocates for better treatment of animals on social media. She contributed to the "Feed A Child" program organized by TV Derana on its 17th anniversary and has spoken about the challenges faced by Sri Lankan children due to the current economic crisis.
