Roshan Ravindra Karunachandra, known as Ravindra in the entertainment industry, is a multi-talented individual involved in Sri Lankan cinema, theater, and television. His contributions range from acting to directing, makeup artistry, assistant directing, and production. Widely regarded as one of the finest dramatic actors in Sinhala drama, Ravindra has received numerous Best Actor Awards at local award festivals.
Ravindra's educational journey began at Rukmalgama School, followed by Wawela Rajasinghe School, and later, Piliyandala Central High School. Initially working in the hotel industry, he seized the opportunity to join veterans Priyantha Sirikumara and Samarasiri Kandanage, which marked the beginning of his acting career.
Ravindra is married to Sanjeewani, and the couple has been blessed with three children: Neththru (born in 2006), Kethaki (born in 2008), and Thiru (born in 2020). He considers Sri Lankan actor Mahendra Perera as his mentor.
During his tenure in the hotel industry, Ravindra attended various acting schools and completed a two-year diploma in youth service council. He also participated in workshops conducted by renowned drama experts such as Somalatha Subasinghe and Anoja Weerasinghe. Prior to pursuing acting, Ravindra worked as a makeup artist in films, including "Sudu Kalu Saha Alu."
Ravindra gained popularity through his television performances, particularly in the lead role of "Uthuwan Kande Sura Saradiyal" and "Sahodaraya." He made his debut as a television producer with the teledrama "Rasthiyadukaraya," directed by Lakmini Amaradewa, followed by "Kadadora," directed by Rajiv Ananda.
In 2020, Ravindra directed his first television serial, "Thanamalvila Kollek." His exceptional performance in the teledrama "Veeraya Gedara Awith" earned him the Best Actor award at the Sumathi Awards in 2021.
