He attended Thurstan College in Colombo for his schooling and later graduated from Northumbria University in Newcastle. Saranga's uncle, Douglas Ranasinghe, is also a well-known artist in Sri Lanka. Initially pursuing computer science for his higher studies, Saranga ventured into commercials and minor roles in cinema.
Saranga Disasekara was previously married to the award-winning Sri Lankan actress Umali Thilakarathne, but they eventually divorced. On August 28, 2020, Saranga tied the knot with Sri Lankan actress Dinakshie Priyasad. The couple welcomed their daughter, Saranya Disasekara, on September 26, 2021.
Saranga's career in the entertainment industry began at the age of 10 when he appeared in the short film "Marana Samapthiya." He then went on to participate in numerous television commercials and radio castings. His breakthrough in cinema came with the film "Nil Diya Yahana," where he played a significant role alongside Chathurika Peiris.
