Ramani Elizabeth Bartholomeusz, born on September 1, 1966, and passed away on June 30, 1987, was a Sri Lankan model and actress. She achieved the title of Miss Sri Lanka in 1985 [1] and represented Sri Lanka in the 1985 Miss Universe pageant [2].
Personal Life:
Ramani was born in Gampaha to Kamala and Leslie Mark Bartholomeusz. Her father, Leslie, was a well-known documentary film director, broadcaster, journalist, and author [3]. She had three sisters named Marie Bartholomeusz, Dileene Bartholomeusz, Reneira Bartholomeusz, and one brother named Mark Bartholomeusz. Ramani completed her education at Holy Cross College in Gampaha [4].
Acting Career:
At the age of 16, Ramani made her screen debut in Lester James Peiris's 1983 film "Yuganthaya" (End of an Era), portraying the character of Chamari [4], alongside renowned actor Gamini Fonseka. Following her participation in the 1985 Miss Universe contest, she continued to pursue acting and appeared in Dharmasiri Bandaranayake's "Makarakshaya" and starred opposite Kamal Addararachchi in "Himakumari" [5].
Ramani gained popularity through her television appearances, particularly in the series "Bhagya," where she co-starred with Ranjan Ramanayake. She became widely recognized for her performance in the song "Aji Thapara Lahila" sung by Deepika Priyadarshani.
