She achieved tremendous success as a female superstar during the '80s and '90s in Sinhala cinema. She has two elder sisters, Sandya and Sadna, as well as a younger sister named Chandima. During her early years, the family resided in Mount Lavinia, her mother's hometown, where she attended Visakha Montessori for primary education. She further showcased her talent by portraying the daughter of her own mother in the film, "Hathara Kendaraya." Sabeetha's entry into the Pakistani film industry came after her role in Yasapalitha Nanayakkara's film, "Rosy." The Sinhala film titled "Sadaakal Randeva," based on the novel "Never Say Goodbye," was screened in Pakistan as "Kabi Al Vidana Kena" and achieved blockbuster success in both countries. This led to further opportunities for Sabeetha in the Pakistani film industry, where she appeared in 17 Urdu films, including "Nadiya," "Zameen Aur Aasman," "Sabke Baap," "Mashbu," "Aagh Hi Aagh," "Ruby," "Donkaraya," "Ayya Nago," "Sebaliyo," "Okkoma Hawul," and "Chandi Kello." Some of these films were collaborative productions between Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Sabeetha's remarkable performances in these films earned her accolades, including the Best Actress award at the Alsakar Film Festival in Pakistan for her role in "Nadiya."
