Ketagodage Dona Ranmini Chethana Ketagoda, known by her popular stage name Chethana Ketagoda, was born on August 4, 1992. She is a renowned Sri Lankan actress and voice artist who has left her mark in the world of television. With a remarkable career spanning over 18 years, Chethana has become one of the most sought-after voice artists in Sri Lanka, lending her voice to numerous beloved international soap operas and serials. However, her talents extend beyond acting and voice work; she is also a skilled singer, investor, agriculturalist, digital content creator on social media platforms, and a practicing Attorney-at-Law.
Early Life:
Chethana was born in Colombo as the second child of her family. Her father, K. D. Upali Chandrathilake, is a retired Air Vice Marshal of the Sri Lanka Air Force, while her mother, Indika P. Chandrathilake, holds the dual roles of an Attorney-at-Law and a government official. She received her education at Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, until the 9th grade, and then completed her O-levels at the Royal Institute International School, Havelock. In the 2009 Edexcel IGCSE examination at the Royal Institute, she achieved the prestigious title of "World’s Best" in Sinhala. Chethana has an elder sister who is a doctor and serves in the Sri Lanka Air Force.
Educational and Professional Achievements:
Chethana pursued her academic journey by earning an LLB degree from the University of London, qualifying her as an Attorney-at-Law. Additionally, she acquired a BA degree in Hindi Language from the Indira Gandhi National Open University, India. Presently, she holds the role of a Hindi Language lecturer.
Career Path:
Her career commenced at a young age when she joined the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, participating in various children's programs. Under the guidance of esteemed actress Mercy Edirisinghe, Chethana began her journey as a voice artist in 2003. Her debut dubbing project was for the cartoon "Kaabaasiniya Thuma," directed by Athula Ransirilal. In 2008, Chethana ventured into singing and simultaneously made her presence felt in the realm of stage dramas, performing at the Tower Hall Foundation.
Her television acting debut occurred in 2008, portraying a role in the serial "Madam Shobha," directed and produced by Jayasekara Aponso. Throughout her career, she continued to provide her voice to various acclaimed international soap operas and serials, such as "Sooriya Diyani," "Mayawarunge Lokaya," "Swapna," "Praveena," "Me Adarayai," "Prema Dadayama," and "Boys Over Flowers." Her diverse talents were also showcased in the 2010 film "Behind the Scenes," where she contributed to the music.
In 2020, Chethana graced the television screen with her role as 'Bilesha' in the serial "Bro," directed by Dilan Wickramakeerthi and produced by Gayan Dinesh Perera. The following year, she undertook her third television role as 'Dinu' in the serial "Snap," directed by Pasindu Perera and produced by Ameesha Kavindi.
