Born on 11th November 1988 in Galle, Sri Lanka, Abhisheka is the only child of Sunil Wimalaweera, a versatile personality known for his roles as a Film Director, Lyricist, and Author, and Damayanthi Wimalaweera. She pursued her primary education at Sacred Heart Convent Galle, and later completed her secondary education at St. Paul's Girls School, Milagiriya. In 2006, Abhisheka earned the prestigious title of Sangeet Visharad from the Bhatkhande Music Institute Deemed University in Lucknow, India. In 2013, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her passion for music and dedication to her craft led her to become a Lecturer in Music at the University of Colombo in 2019. Furthering her academic achievements, she completed her Master's degree in Music at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, in 2020.
In her personal life, Abhisheka is happily married and has a daughter named Fairy Abhilasya Alahakoon.
Career:
Abhisheka's remarkable singing career commenced with her performance in the song "Mangalam Pathala" from the film "Sanjana," directed by Hemasiri Sellaperuma. In 2009, she lent her voice to the song "Nil Nuwan Pathu Sema" for the film "Sinasuna Adaren," directed by Eranga Senaratne. Udayakantha Warnasuriya offered her the opportunity to contribute to the soundtrack "Prarthana Bidi Na" in the film "Challenges" in 2011. Abhisheka's talent continued to shine as she provided vocals for the song "Heena Dam Mitak" in 2013.
Further showcasing her vocal prowess, Abhisheka contributed to two films released in 2014. She performed in the song "Me Minisath Bawe Lowe" from the film "Que Sera," directed by Parakrama Jayasinghe. Additionally, she featured in the soundtrack "Hawasaka Ma" from the film "Rupantharana," directed by Nalaka Withange. The song "Hawasaka Ma" was a captivating duet performed by Abhisheka with Lahiru Perera. In 2018, she mesmerized audiences with the song "Madhu Sandakan" for the film "Wassanaye Sanda," directed by Udayakantha Warnasuriya.
Abhisheka also made a mark in teledrama playback singing. Her debut in this realm began with the theme song "Dekopul Kandulin Thema" for the teledrama "Amaa," where she collaborated with the talented artist Lahiru Perera. In 2015, she contributed to the song "Hithe Inne Den Oyamai" for the teledrama "Adarei Man Adarei," which aired on Hiru TV. Additionally, she lent her enchanting vocals to the theme songs "Charithayakata Paata Denna" and "Me Nisha Yamaye" for the teledramas "Charithayakata Paata Denna" and "Blackmail," respectively, both of which were telecasted on the Independent Television Network.
Recently, Abhisheka showcased her singing prowess once again by performing the theme song "Apa Hamu Nowuna Nam" for the teledrama "Ras," which was aired on Sirasa TV.
