Brief:

"Bonda Meedum" (Sinhala: බොන්ද මීදුම්) is a popular Sri Lankan television drama series based on the beloved novel series created by Sri Lankan writer Sujeewa Prasanna Arachchi. The series made its debut on September 15, 2010, and concluded on September 2, 2011, with the Independent Television Network serving as the official broadcaster. Airing during the 8:30 pm time slot, the teledrama garnered even more popularity than the novels themselves. Notably, Udari Warnakulasooriya and Saranga Disasekara received awards for the most popular female and male actors of the year, respectively, at the 16th Sumathi Awards in 2011. Plot: The narrative centers around Dhanuka, a handsome and innocent young man in his early 20s, residing in Matale with his parents and sister. His father, Dharmasena, arranges for him to seek employment at his best friend Senarath Maliyadda's prosperous business in Nawala. Upon Dhanuka's arrival at Maliyadda's home, he is warmly embraced as a son by Maliyadda. However, Maliyadda's only daughter, Sansala, treats Dhanuka as an outsider, subjecting him to multiple insults. Meanwhile, Sansala receives a marriage proposal from her elder cousin, Saliya, who is primarily interested in her for financial gain. Despite Sansala's mistreatment, Dhanuka gradually falls in love with her. His supervisor, Senaka, recognizes Dhanuka's situation and supports him. As the story unfolds, Saliya's mother discovers Dhanuka's presence and plans to send him back to Matale. However, Saliya's sister intervenes by introducing herself as Dhanuka's girlfriend. Sansala continues to mistreat Dhanuka, leading to his emotional breakdown and departure from home. Over time, Sansala becomes remorseful and sympathetic toward Dhanuka. She later discovers her aunt's scheme and forgives Dhanuka. Despite her family's attempts to arrange her marriage to Saliya, Sansala remains unhappy due to his behavior. One day, Dhanuka confesses his love for Sansala at a temple, and she reciprocates. Dhanuka promises to protect her from Saliya. Unbeknownst to Sansala, Saliya has a secret girlfriend named Minoli. When Saliya violently confronts Sansala, Dhanuka intervenes and warns Saliya after learning about the abuse. In retaliation, Saliya assaults Dhanuka and exposes his relationship with Sansala to Maliyadda. Outraged, Maliyadda fires Dhanuka from his job and arranges Sansala's marriage to Saliya, much to her dismay. Meanwhile, Dhanuka takes a job as a waiter at a hotel, but he is forced to leave after encountering Maliyadda and Sansala there. Saliya threatens Sansala, claiming he will take control of her property after their marriage. Kamala, Sansala's servant, advises her to escape from home. Just before the wedding, Saliya is arrested at Maliyadda's house for a robbery. Maliyadda sees Saliya's true nature and severs all ties with him. Dhanuka takes on part-time jobs in town with his best friend, Viraj. Tragically, Dharmasena passes away from a heart attack. Maliyadda decides to extend support to Dhanuka and his family. In the meantime, Saliya returns and physically assaults Sansala as an act of revenge. Sansala falls into a coma, and Saliya is sentenced to four years in prison. Maliyadda realizes his mistake and accepts Dhanuka. Dhanuka undertakes Sansala's treatment under the care of an ayurvedic doctor, who informs him that her recovery is uncertain. With the help of his family and friends, Dhanuka starts a farm and eventually achieves success. Four years later, Saliya is released from prison and forms a bond with a young girl named Shanali. However, Saliya is fatally injured in a bomb blast. In his final moments, he learns that Shanali is his and Minoli's daughter. Sansala awakens from her coma, fully recovered. Finally, Dhanuka and Sansala are reunited and live happily. Cast and Characters: Main Cast: Udari Warnakulasooriya as Sansala Dharmasena (née Maliyadda) – Dhanuka's fiancée and wife.
