Roshan Ranawana, known as Roshan in the entertainment industry, is a Sri Lankan film actor and model. He gained popularity and recognition for his roles in various successful films. In 2013, Roshan was awarded the Most Popular Actors Award at the Derana Film Awards.
Roshan made his acting debut in the film "Hiripoda Wessa" in 2006 and received a Presidential award for Best Upcoming Actor for his performance. He went on to play lead roles in several commercially successful films, including "Tharaka Mal" (2007), "Asai Mang Piyabanna" (2007), "Rosa Kale" (2008), "Feel My Love" (2008), "Dancing Star" (2009), and "Suwanda Danuna Jeewithe" (2010).
In his personal life, Roshan is married to his longtime partner Kushlani, and the couple has a son named Minneth, born in 2019. Roshan is a devoted Buddhist and a committed vegetarian. He has appeared in many Buddhist programs on TNL TV, particularly those promoting a vegetarian lifestyle. He is also actively involved in humanitarian efforts, particularly in the prevention of cancer, and supports the Cancer Care Association.
Before pursuing acting, Roshan worked as a travel executive. He gained recognition in the modeling industry and represented Sri Lanka in international competitions such as Manhunt International China in 2002, Mr. World UK, and Grassim International UK in 2003. He achieved notable rankings in these competitions, including being the second runner-up in the Best Model of the World competition held in Turkey. Roshan's acting career began with the blockbuster film "Hiripoda Wassa" and he became a household name in the Sri Lankan film industry. He also appeared in television dramas, including the soap opera "Vasuda" on Sirasa TV. In 2008, he participated in the reality dance show "Sirasa Dancing Stars" and finished in third place. Roshan is also one of the judges in the popular beauty contest "Derana Veet Miss Sri Lanka for Miss World" on Derana TV. Additionally, he launched his official website in 2011 and has appeared in his own music video, "Neela Neth," with Steven Krishan in 2010.
