Kumanayakage Ravindra Yasas, born on April 20, 1964, is a multi-talented individual involved in Sri Lankan cinema, theater, television, singing, and radio hosting. He is recognized as a highly versatile actor primarily active in theater and television. Additionally, Yasas holds the position of a Western Provincial Councilor.
In his personal life, Yasas is married to theater director Kokilani Benaragama. They have a son named Kasun Chamara, who has also made a name for himself as an actor and singer. Kasun Chamara began his career with the musical program Hapan Padura and has acted alongside his father in films such as Jim Pappa and Pin Pon. Kokilani is the sister of popular actor Jagath Benaragama.
Yasas embarked on his stage drama career in 1984, starting with the popular play Abuddassa Kolama. He further showcased his talent in the stage drama Raja Kapuru, gaining recognition for his song "Suwanda Saban Aga Gala" from the play. In 1995, he made his entry into the world of cinema with the film Ayoma, directed by Parakrama Niriella. Since then, he has portrayed many comedic roles in films, including Hai Baby Hai, Pissu Puso, Jim Pappa, and Kosthapal Punyasoma. In 1999, he received the Sumathi Merit Award for his role in the teledrama Avul Haraya.
Yasas has also made appearances in political satires on television, such as And Company, where he humorously addresses current social and political issues through his singing of 'Virindu' (folk songs). He has even released a music album titled Anda Manda Virindu, showcasing his musical talents.
