Sarath Chandrasiri was a talented actor who worked in Sri Lankan cinema, theater, and television. He was best known for his roles in the television serials Paba and Malee.
Chandrasiri was born in Panadura, Ceylon, on June 13, 1964. He began his acting career in school plays and went on to perform in many popular stage productions. He made his television debut in 1998 with the serial Sankranthi Samaya.
In 2006, Chandrasiri joined the regular cast of the popular soap opera Paba, where he played the role of Samagipuran Wasantha. He went on to make many notable appearances in other television serials, including Depath Nayi, Wasantha Kusalana, Ransirige Sangramaya, Hiru Soyaa, Guru Tharuva, Wesgattho, Jodu Gedara, and Neela Pabalu.
In 2011, Chandrasiri played the role of Ukkuwa in the supernatural drama Malee. The role was so popular that he reprised it in the second season of the show, titled Aththamma. He also made a cameo appearance in the third season, Sidu.
Chandrasiri's film debut came in 2000 with the crime film Rajya Sevaya Pinisai. He went on to appear in a number of films, often in villain or thug roles. Some of his notable film roles include One Shot, Samanala Thatu, Sudu Hansi, Mago Digo Dai, and Gamani.
In 2017, Chandrasiri played the role of Circuit Sarath in the comedy drama Dr. Nawariyan. His final acting appearance came in 2021 with the role of Anton, the bus driver, in the television serial Rella Veralata Adarei.
Chandrasiri died on December 4, 2021, at the age of 57. He is survived by his wife, Charika Jayamali, and two children.
