Rashmini Paboda Sandeepani Pathirana, born on 16th January 1982, is a versatile Sri Lankan actress known for her performances in cinema, theater, and television.[1][2]
Background:
Sandeepani is the daughter of the renowned Sri Lankan actress, Geetha Kanthi Jayakody.[3][4] Her family has deep connections to the world of art and entertainment, as her aunt Rathna Lalani Jayakody and uncle Sampath Tennakoon are also well-known artists in Sri Lanka.[5][6] Notably, the popular actor Bimal Jayakody, who is married to fellow actress Sujani Menaka, is Geetha Kanthi's elder brother's son.[7]
Sandeepani's journey in acting began at a tender age of five when she starred alongside her mother, Geetha Kanthi, in the teledrama "Yashorawaya." They later shared the screen again in the teledrama "Bopath Sakkiya." Interestingly, after a span of 31 years, they reunited for the upcoming film "Sri Saddha."[8]
Career:
Sandeepani's introduction to the entertainment industry was facilitated by her mother's influence. While she made a few appearances in films, it was her work in television serials that garnered significant attention. In 2000, she made her debut in Sinhala cinema with an uncredited role in the film "Sanda Yahanata." However, her breakthrough in cinema came with her remarkable portrayal as the leading female antagonist in Udayakantha Warnasuriya's film "Bahubuthayo," where she shared the screen with popular actors Mahendra Perera and Rodney Warnakula.
